What a brilliant place to stay, can't fault it and can't praise it highly enough. The building was beautiful, the room and bed really comfortable and cooking facilities excellent. Phillip and Daphne were really welcoming and helpful and the breakfast early in the morning was superb. I'd highly recommend Murchison Lodge to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Absolutely loved the place.
Absolutely loved the place. The lodge had a great walkway down to the river. Everything was just fabulous from chocolate brownies in the room to friendly people. We played in the Open Murchison golf tournament, which is always well organised and the food yummy. Swimming in the river was a highlight on both days. Great swingbridge, 10km out of town. Fantastic.

Usually we pass through Murchison, but this time we made it a stopover for a night. We loved this place. It is in a very picturesque valley, in a lovely warm microclimate, with kayaking and hiking on the doorstep. The nearby swingbridge and cometline were a must. Great pizza from the Cow Shed! We could easily spend more time exploring the surrounds, with a base of the fabulous Murchison Lodge.

Murchison is a small town.
Murchison is a small town. We had dinner at the local pub which was not cheap but the serving sizes are extra large so good value.
People are welcoming and the place had a safe feel to it.
Place relies on the tourist trade so very quiet when we were there.
We walked from our accommodation to "town", all flat. Very little traffic.

It was a beautiful Autumn road trip to Murchison, the back road down from the Nelson area was outstanding following the river and the vines turning colours. Then up to Blenheim through the pass and the vineyards with all of their colours..... Beautuful
Easy, central location to many places and what a fabulous backyard with the Southern Alps right there.
There's a very good cafe across the road.

An interesting little "out back town".
An interesting little "out back town". The pub meal was good and the place humming with the activity of locals an probably visitors.
One interesting spot was the "antique store". More like a museum of well used stuff.
The river very near could be good for fishing but I did not try it out.
Lovely motel, quiet and comfortable. Rooms was well appointed, fantastic shower after a day on the road! Just a stroll to the local hotel for some excellent pub grub. This is a contactless motel so didn't meet the owners but their process is clear and worked without a hitch. Can thoroughly recommend both the motel and Murchison. Thanks!
Adult family of 5… stayed for one night. Brand new facility with comfy beds and linens. Small kitchenette with all the essentials. Perfect location for exploring murchison and the surrounding area . Ate at the cowshed for dinner and it was delicious and adorable as well as having vegetarian options. Market nearby if you choose to eat in.
Very cozy lodge with full access to kitchen, porch & living room area (with wood burning stove). Property includes great view of Buller River.
Phillip the host was very helpful, personable & made our stay the best it could be. Breakfast was incredible — all freshly made. We loved staying here & hope to return. Beautiful scenery.
the hotel is in the center of town so it was a very convenient location. The staff are exceptionally helpful. it was a wet day so they lit the stove so we could be warm and dry our clothes. The bathrooms are shared but were very clean. There is an excellent pizza place located on the premises.
Everything about our stay was excellent. So welcoming, the lodge is charming and comfortable. Just a short away from their lovely raised gazebo platform overlooking the river. Home-cooked dinner and breakfast were delicious! I'm sure my husband and both thought it was a wonderful stop.
Beautiful brand new property. Murchison is a small place so great location. we stopped here en route to Hamner which was a great decision with kids. The air conditioning was a major bonus! The managers are super friendly and provide great local and NZ knowledge / recommendations.
Philip and Daphne have created a knockout lodge with plenty of old time design details but top notch amenities. We extended to stay longer at this immaculate landscaped lodge. And the hearty breakfasts were fantastic! Kudos to a family that loves their jobs!
We loved Murchison and our accommodation was very central and comfortable. A well equipped cottage with everything that we needed. Kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom was clean with a good shower. Bedrooms and living room were also comfortable.
.
The room was very clean and the location was excellent for accessing the pub / restaurants. Check in was very easy (a key box with instructions sent). Room serviced with towels each day. Very quiet location. Shower pressure excellent.
Very clean and beautiful new bathrooms. The kitchen is also very nice. The new cabins are so cute and the view and surroundings are amazing. Great spot to relax and enjoy nature. The owner is also very nice. Thank you.
Great attention to detail by our hosts. They catered to our dietary needs and shared their valuable local knowledge. The Lodge was kept spotlessly clean and we enjoyed lovely home cooked food.
Great place to stop over between Christchurch and Nelson. Comfortable, spacious suite with everything we needed. This would be our choice to stay in Murchison again.
